Entertainment, source of hope, succour for many –Bodman – The Punch

Entertainment personality and entrepreneur, Olabode Tawose, aka Bodman, has said that the entertainment industry has become a source of hope and succour for many countries. He also called on the government to do more in support of the industry, considering its capacity to provide jobs for millions of people.

In an interview with Sunday Scoop, Tawose, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Bodman Entertainment Limited said, “There are many talented people across the world, especially in Nigeria, and Africa in general. Many of them are up-and-coming, and are constantly seeking for platforms through which they can showcase what they have to offer. That was actually what inspired me to create an entertainment company that encompasses music production, and a film studio. There are many talented acts out there that can further spread the ‘gospel’ of afrobeats across the world. All they need is encourage and viable platforms. In our own way, we would do everything we can to discover and nurture new talents.

“The industry also needs better structures so that international investors can come into the country and invest in Nigerian artistes. Afrobeats is currently one of the fastest growing genres of music in the world and I believe that there are still more grounds to cover.”

Recalling how his love for entertainment started, Bodman said, “I have always been an outgoing person and fun lover. I have been following entertainment passionately since I was a childhood. Upon graduation from the University of Ado Ekiti, Ekiti, I set up an agricultural firm. After I recorded some success in that area, I felt it was a perfect time for me to start an entertainment company, which is something I have always wanted to do. The company has a record label and a recording studio.”

Describing the company’s newest signee, Hybrid, as his ‘retirement plan’, Tawose said, “I am very excited about our new artiste— Hybrid— because he is very talented and I can’t wait for the world to know him and enjoy what he has to offer. He recently released a new single titled, Overdose, and a video has also been shot for it and it is already enjoying considerable airplay. He also just finished a recording with Peruzzi of Davido’s DMW.

“We have also worked with other entertainers such as Omashola of Big Brother Naija fame, and talented rapper, Magnito. As a matter of fact, I was featured on Magnito’s song titled, Shakara.”

On what changes he aims to make in the entertainment industry, Bodman said, “The entertainment industry is a source of hope for many Nigerians, in the face of the many challenges the country is facing. The industry puts smiles on the faces of many and I think the government should do more to support this important sector. It is my intention to life as many entertainers as possible. Many up-and-coming artistes in the industry don’t get support and that is something I intend to change.”
