Will Tiffany Haddish replace Ellen DeGeneres as new talk show host? Here’s her response

Ever since Ellen DeGeneres announced she’ll soon be bringing down the curtain on her popular eponymous daytime talk show after 19 seasons, rumors have been swirling of Tiffany Haddish possibly taking up that slot.

In an interview with The Breakfast Club on Wednesday, Haddish, who has previously filled the seat as guest-host on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, responded to the rumors and why she hasn’t publicly said anything about it.

“I haven’t commented on it because ain’t nobody that gives those jobs talked to me about it,” the Eritrean-American comedian and actress said, according to People. “The reason I’ve even been popping up guest-hosting Ellen is because she wanted some days off. You know, she’s been doing it a long time. She wants to enjoy her money. She’s like, ‘Tiff, you want to try it?’ I’m like, ‘You know what? Yeah, sure. Y’all gonna pay me a little something, something?’ I’ll learn a new skill, I’m here for it.”

She continued: “So, I’m learning a new skill. That’s it. Y’all [are] just watching me learn in front of everybody. I don’t think there’s a professional hosting school — like, a talk show hosting school. You got to just kind of do it and see if it’s for you.”

Haddish also revealed she’ll be guest hosting a “few more episodes” but did not know if that was a method of grooming her to replace DeGeneres when she ends her show in 2022. She, however, reiterated she hasn’t been told anything with regards to that.

“Ain’t nobody talked to me about that. Ain’t nobody say nothing to me about that,” she said.

That notwithstanding, it appears the Girls Trip actress wouldn’t mind replacing the 63-year-old DeGeneres if the offer comes.

“If I could be getting what Ellen [is] getting, I’m definitely [in]. … But I have goals and things I want to accomplish, especially in the next three years,” she said, adding: “When I finish those six projects, which is going to create probably 1,200 jobs for other people [to] be able to put food on their tables, then we can talk about [that].”

DeGeneres announced she’ll be ending her daytime talk show on May 12. The announcement came months after some ex-employees alleged they worked in a toxic environment while on set for her show. Even though DeGeneres rendered an apology following the allegations, she said that isn’t the reason behind ending the show, People reported.
