A Rutherglen man has been reunited with his mum in South Africa – 30 years after he last saw her.
Ewan Arnott lost contact with his mother, Janis, after she split from his dad who moved home to Scotland with their children.
Our sister title, the Daily Record ran a story about the family in April and as a result, the pair have been reunited.

The Record’s tale went viral and someone got in touch with an address for Janis.
Ewan, who is now 40, got in touch with his long-lost mother by phone and now the truck driver and DJ wants to bring her to Scotland after hearing she’d fallen into poverty.
Ewan told Lanarkshire Live: “My mum just let out a big sigh of relief after I said, ‘hello mum, it’s Ewan.’
“That’s 30 years since I spoke to her and the first time I’d spoken to her as an adult.
“She just said, ‘oh, my baby, I’ve missed you so much’. She was crying tears of joy.
“I just told her how much I loved her and how proud I was of her.”
Janis and Ewan’s miner dad moved to South Africa in 1978 with his sister.
Gary was born in Johannesburg in 1980 but his parents divorced in 1990.
Janis, 68, remained in South Africa and Ewan last spoke to her when he was 11.
And until a few weeks ago, he wasn’t even sure if she was alive.
But she is “skint” without a pension after her second husband died in 2014. Ewan is crowdfunding to get her home.
He said: “It won’t be easy, because she has no documentation or anything like that.”
