International business magazine, Forbes, has recognised a number of South Africans in its recently released list of 100 Innovations, Inventions & Icons From Africa.
The list, which was made available on the official website of the publication, was curated as a way of “celebrating these very ideas, inventions, and influential role models that have spelt Africa’s growth over the last decade”.
Top celebrities in the South Africa entertainment industry such Trevor Noah, Connie Ferguson and Charlize Theron have all snagged a spot in the section celebrating African icons.
Noah, who became an international sensation after landing a gig as The Daily Show host, is amongst some of the biggest names in comedy on the The Highest-Earning Stand-Up Comedians list.
Other notable mentions are Dr John Kani, who has over 56 years of experience in the film industry, Tendai Mtawaria – aka ‘The Beast’, a rugby player – and Nasty C.
Africans from other countries who were featured in the list include Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid, former US president Barack Obama and Oscar award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’O, among others. Find the full list here.
In similar news, Forbes released its list of richest women in the world. Coming in at number three is Jeff Bezos’ ex-wife, MacKenzie Scott.
MacKenzie follows Francoise Bettencourt Meyers and Alice Walton.
Meanwhile, Briefly.co.za earlier reported congratulations are in order for American reality TV star Kim Kardashian as she officially joins the World’s Billionaires list for the first time.
According to Forbes, Kim is now worth $1 billion, which is about R14.53 billion, up from her former nett worth estimate of $780 million.
It was reported that the 40-year-old woman made the billionaire list because of two of her last business ventures, KKW Beauty and Skims, as well as cash from reality television and endorsement deals and a number of smaller investments.
